Thousands of people are drawn to Oxford every year by its vibrant economy, culture, and quality of life. Spiralling prices threaten to undermine all these things.

Average home prices are more than 12 times average annual earnings, making Oxford the second least affordable place to live in all of the UK. Rents, too, are among the highest in the UK.

Thousands who work here cannot afford to live here. This means more traffic jams, higher carbon emissions, and a lower quality of life for everyone involved.

Right now, jobs are growing faster than housing in Oxford. 24,000 to 32,000 extra Oxfordshire houses are estimated to be needed in the next 20 years.

We the undersigned ask local politicians of all parties and at all levels: get behind a concerted expansion of Oxford housing so the next generation can afford to live in this amazing city.
